The McLaughlin River is a great stream but has suffered, more than most, over the past decade or so of drought conditions. Access to the river can be gained just East of the township of Nimmitabel on the Monaro Highway, towards Bega, or on the bridge crossing on the road from Dalgety to Ando. The river has produced some trophy sized brown trout and always seems to recover from the worst dry spells. The McLaughlin is a declared ‘Blue RIbbon Stream’ (Breeding Stream) so 2 fish per day limit exists with maximum 4 fish in possession. No bait fishing is allowed. Mobile telephone coverage is poor or non-existant. |
